We started Danish Furniture August 1972 in a new building in Boulder Colorado. In the early days the importing procedure was to fly to Port of Houston, Texas on a mid-night flight, rent the biggest truck, pick up furniture from a huge warehouse and drive for two days back to Boulder. This process was stopped when we finally figured that we could have our own orders shipped to us directly from Europe. Our furniture was well received by customers in Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, and New Mexico and we soon grew big enough to bring in whole containers from Europe direct to Boulder by railroad. Our knowledge of Scandinavian furniture has been increased by visiting the Danish Furniture Fair in Copenhagen several times, by visiting factories, and attending schools given by manufacturers in this country. In recent years we have expanded into furniture from Norway, Germany, Italy, Canada and other countries--if we feel the design and quality can be maintained. Currently our bright, spacious showroom gives a refreshing preview of contemporary styles which are perfect for today's modern homes and apartments.
